Petroplus is Europe’s largest independent oil refining company operating refineries in Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, UK and USA. Petroplus is a major refiner of bitumen producing bitumen for wholesale markets in Continental Europe and marketing directly to asphalt manufacturers in the UK. Bitumen for the UK market is produced at Coryton Refinery, Stanford-le-Hope, Essex.

Petroplus are full and active members of the UK's Refined Bitumen Association and are also members of Eurobitume, the European organisation representing Bitumen refiners across Europe providing scientific and technical guidance on all matters relating to product Standards, the use of bitumen and its applications and the promotion of best practice in health, safety and environmental management.

Petroplus has made significant investment of $20m in bitumen and polymer modified bitumen production at Coryton since acquiring the refinery from BP in 2007.
