Efficiencies through Collaboration

A new way of working has been launched for the UK highways maintenance and management industry.

HTMA, (Highways Term Maintenance Association), CECA (Civil Engineering Contractors Association) and BCIS (Building Cost Information Services of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) have collaborated to develop a set of new price adjustment indices specifically for term contracts in the highways maintenance industry.  Cheshire West and Shropshire are the first to adopt the mechanism within their new contracts being issued later this month.

Road Worker Safety is Paramount for HTMA

Members of HTMA Safety Forum have developed a neck restraint for operators of Impact Protection Vehicles (IPV) in an attempt to reduce the number of RIDDORs caused by whiplash injuries.  Safety is integral to all activities in the highway maintenance industry and creating a safer environment for both the people who work within the industry and the traveling public is a priority for HTMA.
